Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a Dealer for Shosui Takeda

Just Received ~ Direct from the Maker

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

A beautiful, traditional Japanese kitchen knife from Master Takeda – a Mioroshi Deba in the KuroUchi style finish. The Mioroshi is a very refined style of knife used mostly for Meat preperation and excels at filleting all manner of Fish. Amazing slicing ability.

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade.   The blade is a a very respectable thickness between 1/8″ and 3/16″ thickapprox 6  3/4″ long (17.15cm) and this beautiful blade has a clear full length Lamination Line!

Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.
