Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.

Direct from the Maker from the ECCKS 2013

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

A new model of a traditional Japanese working knife that Takeda introduced at the ECCKS.  This knife is an Integral that was hand forged by Master Takeda from a single piece of Aogami Super Steel.

The natural Burlap Wrap handle is Colored and then sealed with a Waterproof Resin. The Spine of the blade is contoured to provide a natural thumb rest area, no sharp corners.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The Hamon is clearly visible and the blade is hand sharpened on increasing grits of Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.

This knife comes complete with a thick Leather Belt Sheath set for RH carry.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

Vince: I have been using one of these utility knives from Takeda and I swear by it. It is, perhaps, the most useful everyday knife I own. Extremely sharp. Comfortable to hold and handle. And it fits in the hand well. Takeda’s blades are world class and the sheath that comes with it is no less.

To prospective buyers: keep in mind there is a less expensive version of this knife that is just as good but does not have the sheath and the handle wrap. If you don’t already have a sheath or don’t want to make one I recommend the one that comes with this knife.
