Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

  Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda

  Direct from the Maker from the NYCKS 2013

width=400

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (AS), which has added Vanadium. The blades are marked with “AS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

This is an absolutely gorgeous Gentlemans Friction Folder

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade and left the Forge scale on blade in the Kuro-uchi style finish.

Takeda passed his blade to well know Folder Maker Kensei Matsuno who completed the hand work required to create the handle and Frame – this is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries.

Opened using the hardened extended Stick Tang, this knife has extremely smooth action, the Gorgeous dyed Curly Maple has beautiful range of colors ~ lots of Deep Blue and some Gold accents. The Frame and Backspacer are thick Titanium.

   Takeda’s small script Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the AS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The Hamon is clearly visible and the blade hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.

The blade on this one barely rubs the Liner when closed, Takeda said this would not effect the use of the knife and chose not to rework the blade.  Priced Accordingly.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

 No Returns, this one is Sold As Is.
