Shosui Takeda Blacksmith

Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer with Shosui Takeda.

~ Direct from the Maker  ~

I have admired Shosui Takedas knives for many years.  The Takeda Smithy was founded in 1920 and moved to Niimi in 1951. They produce hand-forged blades and tools such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, hoes, hatchets, etc. A third generation master blacksmith, Shosui Takeda specializes in hand forging blades from the highest quality carbon steel, Aogami Super Steel (NAS), which has added Vanadium. His New blades are Stainless Clad and marked with “NAS” and Takeda’s Signature, all forged entirely by hand, as it has been done for generations. Each blade holds its edge extraordinarily well and resharpens easily.

Direct from the Maker

This is a traditional KoBunka Japanese Kitchen knife in the Kuro-Uchi style finish. The Banno KoBunka is a versatile, general purpose prep knife for all manner of Vegetables, light Meats, etc.  Perfect for push cutting or slicing, this is one of those extremely versatile blade styles (kind of like the Wharncliff blade) that will amaze you once you actually use it.

Master Takeda hand forged the Aogami Super Steel blade which is approx 4  1/2″ long (approx 11.3 cm long) and 1  5/8” Wide!  The blade of the KoBunka Bocho is Forged thin for amazing sliceability.

Takeda passes his blades to another Master who completed the traditional Japanese handling process. This is the way that Japanese Swords and knives have been made for centuries. The Natural Hard wood handle is custom contoured in an Octagon pattern. The color and Grain of this particular handle is extremely nice.

The Nakago (or Tang) is sealed with a Natural Waterproof Resin.

Takeda’s Signature is hand stamped into every blade along with the NAS for Aogami Super Steel designation. The Hamon is clearly visible and the blade hand sharpened on increasing grits of natural Japanese Waterstones by Takeda to a laser sharp edge.

This knife comes complete in a Presentation Box with the Name of the Maker and the knife indicated on the front.

This knife will appeal to anyone who values true hand made tools with a rich history.

An incredible value for a Hand Forged Blade of this size and quality.

Takeda produces a number of these models so there may be some slight variation in blade finish, handle material grain, or presentation box.
