Fort Henry Custom Knives is proud to be a direct Dealer for Hiroaki Ohta hand made knives
Direct from the Maker from the recent ECCKS 2014
This is a Large Custom Slipjoint by Hiroaki.
Due to an extreme Backlog on his Steel, this is one of the LAST of Hiroaki’s Slip Joints that will feature Shosui Takeda’s Aogami Super Steel.
This example has gorgeous contoured Ironwood Handle Scales
Very smooth action, a firm Half Stop and perfect lock up.
Hiroaki makes the handles of his knives slim so they fit in the hand very comfortably. The Lamination Line in the Aogami Super Steel blade clearly defines the Hard Cutting edge from the Softer Spine.
The knife has full Carbon Fiber liners under the Ironwood handles, this allows for plenty of strength but still a very light weight.
The blade is perfectly centered and operates smoothly, no play in any direction. Hiroaki has also added some nice Custom Filework to the back of the Spring.
The Stabilized Ironwood is extremely well matched and has a nice high polish to show off the natural Grain and rich Dark Color.
Hiroaki makes his own Leather Pocket Sheaths for every knife, well stitched and holds the knife securely.
There are 2 of these available so the knife you receive may vary slightly from the picture.
