THIS is the VERY LAST knife in Aogami Super Steel that I will receive from Hiroaki !!
in 2013 I designed a Special 21st Century Friction Folder that is my Exclusive from Hiroaki. Hiroaki recently crafted a smaller, similar knife for me in Full Carbon Fiber with Takeda’s Aogami Super Steel.
The blade was hand ground by Hiroaki from Aogami Super Steel and then given a labor intensive Hand Rubbed Finish and Professional Etch to reveal the Amazing Lamination Line and Hardness Gradient zones.
A Friction Folder is the oldest of folding knife designs, ancient Viking Age Friction Folders (or Penny Knives as they were called ) have recently been discovered in Rome where they were a standard item for men of wealth and privilege!
This Light Weight, updated example by Hiroaki has Full Carbon Fiber handles as well as a Full Carbon Fiber Backspacer and Red Liners. It has a very smooth action and a well-centered blade.
To Open a Friction Folder you just need to pull back on the Exposed Tongue extended off the back of the blade. The action is set so that the blade will not fall open by itself.
A full size Handle allows for a Full, Secure, comfortable grip. When opened, the Tongue is recessed into the handle.
Hiroaki makes his own Thick Leather Sheaths for every knife, well stitched and holds the knife securely.
This one has the extra security of having a Full Kydex Liner! the Blade “Locks” into place when inserted into the Sheath ~ you cannot even shake it out if you try!
The Knife comes complete with plenty of Paracord for Neck wear and a Hand Made Wooden Cinch that Slides up and Down on the cord to adjust the length of the Cord.
A wonderful knife that will appeal to anyone who wants a 21st Century creation in a Traditional Design.
