Okapi Knives

I have been collecting knives for many years but long before I was a collector and an online Knife Dealer I was a knife user.  When I was working for Uncle Sam I was given an Okapi knife as a gift by a Soldier from a poor Desert country.  I used that knife hard and bought a new one when I came home.  These knives have a true handbuilt flavor and are great workers and a great reputation.

These designs are from the 17th century and are known as "Clasp Knives".  They are currently made from 1055 high Carbon Steel and have a proven locking mechanism.  Popular with rendezvous folks, reenactors and those looking for a knife like their ancestors might have used.

About OKAPI

"The history of OKAPI pocket knives began in Solingen, Germany, at the beginning of the last century. Our name derives from the coincidence that a new species of buck was discovered in the then Belgian Congo in 1902, the Okapi, at the very time a new range of pocket knives was first developed at the factory in Solingen. To mark the occasion, they were christened the "OKAPI" range."

"In 1988, OKAPI South Africa (then trading as All Round Tooling) bought the trademark and tooling and continued to produce these knives in South Africa. The basic design of the 907e wooden handled "lockback" has changed little over the years where the basic carbon steel, impregnated handle knife remains a firm favourite."

Okapi offers everything from Folding knives to Butcher knives, the Okapi brand has been around and will continue to thrive on the principle of value and good quality.  Okapi is a brand that I enjoy using.
